On Thursday, February 25th, the Stanford Daily published an article, titled: "SCR does not deserve its place on campus." This piece called for "removal from the Stanford community" of our chapter there, the Stanford College Republicans.
The article went on to label the club "corrosive," "dangerous," "menacing," "hateful," "discriminatory," and more for offenses such as: believing the 2020 election was stolen; the publishing of radical comments and actions from leftist students and faculty; not advancing "respectful" dialogue by calling abortion "murder;" inviting Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens to campus; and other "unpunished" actions. The article ends by calling for a Republican club to exist on campus — as long as it engages in the writer's definition of a "respectful" dialogue. “Leftists at Stanford want us gone because they cannot tolerate any entity that actually challenges their ideology. Needless to say, we are here to stay: we aren't going to allow fascistically-minded ‘journalists’ like Dinshaw to dictate the parameters of speech at America's finest institution,” said the Stanford College Republicans. This article and cancel culture itself are a disgusting assault on free speech, and we will not let the left dictate what Republicans should stand for. We will not let them cancel us or our clubs. CCR stands ready to fight against these efforts, and we will leave all legal options open to protect our clubs if need be. Let this be a warning to the left: the California College Republicans aren’t going ANYWHERE. We’ve been here 57 years, and we’ll be here 57 more. We hope we can count on your continued support in our efforts.
